Samuel P. Davis
The Sam Davis room is our largest guest room. Fronting on B Street, the tall picture window provides the famed 100-mile view of Virginia City and central Nevada. Decorated in stylish tones of blue with Eastlake furniture, the room has a sitting area, antique armoire, and queen-sized bed with “sleeping on a cloud” comfort.
Named for Samuel Post Davis, a guest in this house in 1878, you will enjoy the spacious charm of this ample guest room. Sam Davis, a reporter for the Virginia Evening Chronicle in 1878, went on to local fame as the editor of the Carson City Morning Appeal, and later served as a Nevada State Controller. In 1913 he edited a history of Nevada. His poem "The Lure of the Sagebrush" graces the wall.
