A visit to Virginia City in the spring showcases the old yellow "Mormon" roses which grow almost wild on the hillside. Nevada is home to more species of butterflies than any other state. Quail and deer are frequently seen on the slopes of town.

Carolyn’s love of history extends to the garden where we have planted antique bearded iris (pale yellow and purple varieties) as well as Rip Van Winkle daffodils (introduced in 1884) and Poet’s narcissus (dating to 1831). Many of our roses are antique varieties including an 1870 Alba, a single white rose.
Our gardens feature a mixture of plants native to the Nevada high desert and imported species. All are arranged in a style reminiscent of the 1880s. We feature roses, fruit trees and evergreens, lilacs, butterfly bush, and a wide variety of flowering bulbs. Spring is, of course, the best time to visit to see the flowers in full bloom.
